Letting agent not passing on rent

Wondering if anyone had any advice if they have been in a similar situation.

My letting agent says the tenant has paid the rent to but has letting agent has not paid the rent to me nor replied to my recent messages asking where the rent money is.

Given this breakdown in communication I also want to stop working with this agent.

What would you suggest I do?

How long have you been with this agent?
Is the email address you have been using up to date, letting agents may have a high staff turnover?
Usually a written statement will be sent confirming rent payment and listing any deductions made for management fees, fees to set up tenancy, costs of repairs etc (as applicable) and then the remaining balance is sent to you.

on repeat
join NRLA
& send the agent a registered letter (can you visit them?)
informing them that as they had not passed you the rent you will be collecting it directly & contact your tenant &you expect them to pay the money they owe you with x days or you will be pursuing them through the court (aka small claims) google the company business to see if they have any feedback or to see if their business has disappeared/gone bust
This doesn't look good op

Thank you for your replies. Have sent agent and tenant letter saying that will be taking over management. Tenant had actually paid.
