Combi boiler, attempt repair or wait for engineer

Hi our condensate pipe has a hole. Vaillant eco Tec pro 28 . Is it wise to try and replace or best to wait for engineer. And can we use the hot water ? It only seems to leak when we use the heating. Can't get an engineer til next week so looking at options. I'm all for not using it at all til next week, husband's been having a look at it.

I was all set to say fgs don’t let DH mess but, seemingly, it may be possible to sort yourself.

I was with @Idontlike having just had to call an engineer out for our underfloor heating which I dare not touch only for it to the a feckin handle that had been knocked 🙄. When in doubt I find @pigletjohn to be the best guide on these issues 😁.

*to be the feckin handle 😫

The black ribbed pipe inside the boiler has a hole and is leaking at another point too, and the liquid has leaked inside and rusted the metal. We are definitely not using it for now and husband isn't going to attempt anything tonight.

@PigletJohn sorry I may have incorrectly put the username previously

Thank you to everyone who has answered so far.

if the hole is inside the sealed boiler casing, it is not a DIY job.

If it had been the plastic condensate waste pipe, outside the boiler, going to the drain, it would be different.

Thanks Piglet John , very helpful , looks like our kettle will be getting a lot of use over the weekend Grin.

For anyone interested, we got the central heating engineer out, he made the repair and did a service , fairly inexpensively.

Good to hear. You did the right thing, clearly.
