Hot spot under floor HELP!

Zxr12 · 05/10/2021 21:24

hi we moved to a new home last winter.

All of the down stairs floor is tiled.

The floor in the hallway is warm . We noticed it last year when we moved in but didn’t think much of it as we had a lot going on.

We had the bathrooms re done and the plumbers adjusted all the radiators in the house so they all heat up evenly.

Now we have the heating back on again and downs stairs radiators are heating up more than last year . The tiles in the hallway are really warm.

What could this be? Is it just the pipe under neath or is there an underlying issue.

We didn’t have a high water bill. No damp patches or smells.

Any help /advice would be greatly appreciated

I know someone who I thought had underfloor heating, like I had, but it was just good placement of pipes.

Hope that's all it is for you, if so, consider yourself lucky!

I think it's probably just a pipe running underneath.

Underfloor pipes

I’d presume it’s pipes - DD has a lovely warm spot in her room where the pipes come up from the boiler downstairs and go to the water tank

We have this in our utility. It's pipes and valves for the central heating.

you can check the temperature before and after turning the boiler on.

If you wet-mop the tiles there is a good chance you will actually be able to see the pattern of the pipes as they dry out fast. Or you can possibly hire or borrow a heat camera from your local council.

If you have a cat, it will want to sleep there.

I arranged the boiler pipes under my bathroom floor to achieve the same thing.

Conveniently placed pipes would be my guess too. We had a great hot spot in a bathroom in our old house, I miss that on a cold morning!

I get lovely warm floors where the hot water pipes run.

It is worth getting this checked out just in case. We had a mysterious hot patch once where there had previously been no hot patch and the cause was traced to an improperly functioning electric shower which was earthed via the metal water pipes. The hot floor was a symptom of a fault which would have been dangerous if undiagnosed. Of course there are non-dangerous explanations too.

So true! My cat has identified all the "hotspots" in our house.

@Sarah2384 I was just going to post about the same thing.
