@PoshWatchShitShoes Wow that is a very high architect's bill! I have also been focusing on the interior deco to keep me enthusiastic about the project and to push through the mess. Not been too messy though as stairs breakthrough not yet opened up.
@Callmejudith I didn't know Pooky had a store. I have my eye on a light from their website to put over the stairs to the loft but at £400, I can't seem press the buy button just yet. I plan to have wall lights in the two larger bedrooms in the loft and the bathroom over the vanity mirror. Not found ones yet that catch my eye.
@HappyBackHome We did exactly the same thing as you. We sold our lovely 3/4 bed ex-LA house to buy our current 2 bed bungalow. We have started with the loft conversion and then we shall do the downstairs in a few years' time. We loved our previous house but it was limited by what work we could do without surpassing the ceiling price of the road. The bungalow is also on a quieter no through road which is lovely. It has been great watching Dh training dd on her bike out in the road.
We are having both down lights ad wall lights in the rooms in the loft conversion. I will share mine when I make the decision. We initially were going to have them sort of bedside level but now we shall have them a bit further up and apart on that wall to allow for flexibility.
@StrongArm I agree with you. The whole point of a utility room is to be able to close it off from the rest of the space. Definitely change it.
@Indecisivelurcher We are going over with regards to btus. I hate feeling cold. I can always turn it down on the valve if it is too warm.
@RebelGeek76 That space looks fantastic.
Loft conversion has now got the point where the partition walls are all up. Site has now been handed over to the electrician and Plumber whilst carpenter finishes off the ferrings and boarding the dormer. Plumber is very keen to start 1st fix ASAP next week so hopefully he is here nice and early next week. Ideally he wants to do his bit before the electrician.
Our roofer was keen to start mid next week but was put off by carpenter as he believed he might not be ready for him. I hope we don't get to regret it if roofer is caught on another job when we are ready for him. I just want to keep the current momentum going whilst I still have the enthusiasm for the project. Also whilst I'm on maternity leave. I go back to work in January so it is also important I have my new office space ready-ish by then since I am losing my current one to the staircase.
The very good news - We can re-use the roof tiles we currently have which is a small step in being less wasteful and it should also save us almost £2k. I have hated seeing tonnes of good timber end up on our skip.
