Oh no @Callmejudith! Hope they've got more people on it and resolved soon.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 26/10/2021 17:45

I've just booked/confirmed:

 • spray painters to collect rads on 8th Nov
 • quartz templating for 26th Nov
 • kitchen painting guy for 29th Nov-13th Dec
 • floor repair guy for 1-3rd Dec
 • floor sanding & finishing 6-12th Dec
 • quartz fitting for 7th Dec

This is good progress on my list. I need to do some ordering of stuff tomorrow.

Still no sign of my bath (it's stuck on a ship somewhere waiting to dock). Might be offloaded on Friday, but then they're saying 10 days to get to me after that. I've heard the "might be offloaded" comment so many time 🤦🏼‍♀️

Anyone else facing crazy delays?

RebelGeek76 · 26/10/2021 17:57
@RebelGeek76 it looks so great. What worktop are you having? Also are you having anything above the hob?
We've gone for a white quartz with a subtle shimmer. Our hob is going in on the island so the roof lantern will be directly above it. We've gone for a venting induction hob for extracting as neither of us were keen on a wall/ceiling extractor.

MissFritton65 · 26/10/2021 18:09

@PoshWatchShitShoes I have my bath but no windows! We were also short of 8 ridge tiles for the roof and have waited 3 weeks for them. They arrived on Friday and have sat in the back garden since.....we can't get the scaffolding down until they are on! It's very frustrating.....

Callmejudith · 26/10/2021 19:16

@PoshWatchShitShoes that’s excellent work!

@RebelGeek76 sounds like our worktop. DH is still not convinced about the white but I think it’ll be lovely

PoshWatch - that’s loads!

I still haven’t sent links of my preferred switches and sockets to the boss.
Or spoken to the rear neighbours about replacing and raising the fence between us.
Or chased the glass railing people.
Or anything else really 😂

RebelGeek- what about above the sink, anything going there?
We’ve put our gas hob in the island below a lantern too. But as DH insisted on a gas hob not induction we were a bit stuck about extractors. So we’ve gone for a flat one on the ceiling (hopefully kind of embedded in the ceiling) and hoping that the building control people won’t mind that it’s not exactly above the hob.

The builders boss guy agreed he’ll put in a temp suspended one if needed to pass building control. Won’t be ideal so we’re 🤞

We currently have a black worktop with sparkles, not sure if I’ll go for exactly that but was aiming for white units so feel I can’t have a white worktop too, although I have seen pics of all white kitchens. Not sure my housewife skills are up to it!

Terracedtardis · 26/10/2021 21:48

@Callmejudith Those are the bar stools I want but DH said too uncomfortable. He was looking at some really awful faux leather padded monstrosities. I’m going to try and order them and sneak them in anyway.
Our temporary kitchen has now been removed so I’ve no kitchen sink or washing machine now. I had a load of stuff in the dryer and DH told them to crack on with dismantling everything when they offered to wait for it to dry 🙄🤦‍♀️.
Now that the temp kitchen area is gone I can see the full space. The area I have for a dining table is smaller than I’d like. On the other hand the sofa/tv area is huge. I’d like to switch them around but the dining area isn’t really big enough for a sofa without it being cramped.

MissFritton65 · 26/10/2021 22:35

You all seem to be making great progress! I'm just hoping we'll be able to accommodate our adult children at Christmas; we haven't seen them since Easter! 🤞🙏

Notyetthere · 27/10/2021 00:30

I have finally caught up with the chat. Loving all the photos of everyone's progress.

Plumbing and electrics1st fix were completed last week. Electrician spent Monday tidying our existing cables for the lighting downstairs and installing data cables to the loft as we are sure the WiFi will be weak up there.

Roofers started on Monday and we reckon they are here till middle of next week. We have used the old concrete roof tiles to clad the dormer and whilst I was worried about it, they look great. Dormer looks like it has always been there. We felt like it would have been such a waste if we had decided to use new roof tiles. The old ones were still intact and apart from a little moss, they are good as new.

Our Carpenter also started laying the floor which we reckon he will have completed by end of tomorrow. Then he will install door linings for the rest of the week.

Plasterer is booked to start next week to install the insulation, plasterboard and plaster. Dh is spending rest of this week stripping the layers of wallpaper from the dining room walls as the stairs will land in this space so plastering can continue into it. It was a dusty exercise as the wallpaper is coming away with plaster. I think we might have to pay extra for this room to be skimmed.

wonkylegs · 27/10/2021 09:47

Grrr plasterer is apparently running behind on his previous job as his dad (who works with him) is off sick (sorry for the dad, annoyed about the delay) so isn't coming today.
This obviously knocks on all the other trades - so frustrating.

MissFritton65 · 27/10/2021 10:20

The plasterers have finished the first floor of the extension so the plumber is putting in the ensuite today with the tilers coming tomorrow. The project manager appeared at 8am this morning while I'm still in my pyjamas so discuss the Ufh and dates for the screed going down. As it's going throughout the ground floor we'll have to move out for at least 24 hours as it can't be stopped on. We have a night away planned for DH's birthday but unfortunately they want to get it done before then.......good news as it means things getting moving quicker and I get another night in a warm hotel room; win/win!! 😀😀
The template for worktops has been booked for 15th Dec and I've ordered my sitting room carpet plus my new sofa is coming 18th Dec. All looking positive!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/10/2021 13:31

Love the stools @Callmejudith

@wonkylegs hope plasterer's back soon!!

And yay for @MissFritton65's hotel stay.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/10/2021 13:33

I've just confirmed the order to the worktop company...who has actually passed me on to the actual worktop company who is supplying it!!! So basically I'm being charged £7.7k by a middleman 😭 So upsetting.

If anyone wants to name of the actual supplier behind it, let me know. What a bloody con 🤦🏼‍♀️

Callmejudith · 27/10/2021 14:01

Took the kids to Ikea this morning which was a huge mistake as I spent a fortune on crap. Our lovely lovely cleaner has sorted the utility room cupboard and made space for the ironing board and hoover and put all the wash tabs into pots - I love her.

I have also realised we have the perfect beam to hang those Ikea Christmas stars from

Electrician back tomorrow. We have an 8 gang switch on the wall and we are working out which switch will do which circuit. I feel like it could be really wrong quite easily.

Callmejudith · 27/10/2021 14:13

Urgh that's annoying @PoshWatchShitShoes

PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/10/2021 14:17

Love an IKEA trip @Callmejudith. So exciting you're thinking about Christmas decs 👏

Just got the news that I won't have my backsplash before Christmas, as they won't be able to template it till 8th December 😢

Off to site shortly. Hopefully good news somewhere 🤷🏼‍♀️

Callmejudith · 27/10/2021 14:29

Oh we’ve had splashback woes too. Wren forgot to include it in our order so I ordered one from a place called appliance depot. It was marked as “graded” with a small scratch on the back and it came this morning and was a complete mess so DH sent the driver back with it. Now I can’t find it anywhere in stock

MissFritton65 · 27/10/2021 14:33

@Callmejudith what a nightmare!

Callmejudith · 27/10/2021 14:36

@MrsFritton yey for the hotel!

MissFritton65 · 27/10/2021 15:06

@Callmejudith the way my luck is going it will be a Travelodge! Grin

Callmejudith · 27/10/2021 16:06

Called wren and they have added the splashback back onto the order I have to say I’m so impressed with everything with them so far

OP posts:
PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/10/2021 16:10

That's great news @Callmejudith

I just called another 2 splashback companies and the 5th November is cut off date for templating and before Christmas installation. So no chance then 😂

PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/10/2021 16:13

I just got shouted at by the tiler!!! 😡

He told me to go away and leave him alone. Apparently he needs a drawing from me about how tiles are to be laid and then I'm not allowed to change it.

They're fucking marble look porcelain. I can't do a bloody drawing as every tile is different. I told him to move a couple of tiles where the veining was too heavy/concentrated.

Assholes.

WWYD?

PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/10/2021 16:14

Actually he's still shouting in Russian and the other labourers have all stopped in their tracks. God knows what he's calling me

Indecisivelurcher · 27/10/2021 16:16

@PoshWatchShitShoes I would give him a fucking time out. Tell him to come back in half an hour when he can speak to you in a reasonable manner. Not joking!
