Smell in bathroom

Hi all. Really need some advice. Have a strange smell in bathroom for the last few weeks on and off, but lately more persistent. I think it's coming from waste pipe coming from back of toilet into the ground. There's no blockage or anything in toilet. Smells like fumes, hard to explain. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Could I sort it or is it a job for a plumber? Or is it likely to cost me a fortune that I don't have? Thanks in advance

I would try one of the products you can buy at shops/ online. E.g Kilrock do a drain unblocker.
Put that down the drain and see how it works.

Sounds like the stench pipe on the roof is blocked.
We had this problem the smell was worse first thing in the morning. DH used the hose pipe full blast to clear the blockage.

If it's fishy, it's electrical, like shower for example.

It's like fumes or something. Toilet is a bit wobbly so I'm afraid a seel is broken underneath and fumes are escaping up into my bathroom. I've put unblocker etc down but it keeps coming back. Smell is definitely stronger the nearer I get to pipe where it goes in to the floor.

Does the spigot go into the floor, or the wall?

Is it a concrete floor?

How old is the house?

What type of heating do you have?

Does it smell like turps? I have no answer but this happens to us every so often.
