Relocating to Bath

Currently working on convincing my husband and eldest daughter (12) that a move to Bath (where I grew up) from north London suburbs is a good idea. My younger two are already on board and I think would thrive. Want to be near mum and other family and really miss the countryside and laid back vibe a d think it’ll be good for the family long term. Am now sick of London having been here for decades! Any tips/advice? Best state schools? Pros and cons? Any tips gratefully received.

Surrey is good or Kent.

Bath is great, but the traffic is terrible, so choose where you want to live very carefully. It's great for teenagers, and they can get the train to Bristol when they are older too.

Thanks - really helpful response and kind of what I was thinking. All sounds really positive. Defo going to look at the villages too - especially the ones the right side for getting on the M4. I know the road through Bath can be bad but doesn’t compete to the horrendous North Circular which I live near now!

Are you sure you want to move them on the cusp of their social lives to a quietier place?

I'm in Keynsham. It sounds like it may meet your needs for good transport links. Also has Wellsway, Broadlands and IKB schools.

It’s a good point and one we are pondering…

I live near Bath and have a flat in Bath itself.
In Bath itself, traffic is bad atm, as they are carrying out maintenance to the Cleveland bridge.
Plenty of beauty villages outside of Bath on the M4 side, Bathford, batheaston,
Box, Colerne. Corsham is a nice little town too.
We've lived in many counties in the UK and many countries in the world, always feel home around Bath
