what colour stone work tops?

I'm stuck on a choice.

Rest of the kitchen worktops are solid wood but changing to stone around the under-mounted belfast sink.

I can't decide on colour. I took home a few samples in Coral Clay ( Silestone ) and Moorland Fog ( cesarstone) but I now think they are too dark and should go with something much lighter and not try to co-ordinate too much with the wood but actually make it look different and stand out.

Anyone got any inspo to share?

It's only a 1.5m run so choosing from the off-cuts pile :-)

Ask for advice.

Choose the one that shows splashes the least. Less wiping. Maybe a medium shade with lots of markings on it. Not a very plain one. They will all go with wood.

Don't match choose a contrast. What colour are your cabinets?

IamwhoIsayIam · 26/09/2021 11:47

@maofteens

cabinets are Hicks Blue and Juniper Ash.

Wooden work surfaces are oak but have yellowed.

I'm thinking of re-doing the oak work top with a tined wax oil to darken them and get rid of the yellow.

I was offered Cesar stone Moorland Fog from the off cuts bin ( less than 2m needed) www.caesarstone.co.uk/colours/supernatural/6046-moorland-fog

It's a bit more traditional than I first thought I wanted but coming round to it.

Wood will get darker as it ages even when you care for it properly, while stone will stay the same. So I think I’d go for a darker colour otherwise it could end up looking really odd in 2-5 years.
