Chasing Vendors Solicitors

My vendors solicitors have been an absolute nightmare during this entire process. It has taken at least emails from me to seller via their estate agent to get then to respond, after my side has been chasing.

Anyway, we’re now waiting on one last search before exchange, and I obviously want to complete by next Thursday. It’s deja vu, they’ve gone radio silent.

I get that they won’t speak to me, but is it unreasonable for me to ring & leave a message chasing this up? I know it’s not usual, but I’m desperate for it to get moving.

The estate agent could ring the solicitor. My vendor's EA is doing that for me as the vendor has gone uncontactable. Same as you, I wanted to complete by the deadline but no chance of that now, I just want to know what's happening and if the sale is definitely off.

I phoned my buyers solicitor a few years ago and had a moan. They did contact my solicitor to say they didn't like that, but it certainly got their attention and everything suddenly came through a few days later. Utter time wasters.

Is it EHL conveyancing in Leicester by any chance? I am supposed to be exchanging today and can't get hold of my solicitor at all, The number I am sure is just ringing in an empty room..

Sympathies, my seller's solicitor has been so slow at responding to my solicitor.

I just got the seller's agent to either contact them, or they contacted the sellers to contact them same as you. I was tempted at one point to contact them directly! But I think it's a fairly big 'no-no'. Then again sometimes who shouts loudest...

@NoToast the estate agent has been as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. I’m trying to cut him out as he’s a waste of oxygen.

@PinkFootstool I was thinking of maybe just leaving a message with the receptionist to pass on, rather than trying to get the solicitor him/herself.

@SpeckledlyHen No, not them. Though they may as well be for all the use they are.

It’s so annoying.

I've done most of the work myself today to push it along - there seems literally no point to having a solicitor on my sale. All she has done is forward emails from the other side. The issue was we tried about 5 local solicitors and they were all rammed and not taking on any new matters so we had no choice but to go with a conveyancing warehouse it seems.

In fairness, my solicitor has been genuinely great. I couldn’t ask any more from them. It’s just the sellers side. My own sale was extremely smooth. The purchase, not so much.
