If you have fitted an extractor in your kitchen chimney how did you finish the front edge? Was a wooden shelf lower than pictured used to cover front edge or plaster board lowered to just below extractor or was extractor just visible? or any other options? I have a real chimney beast. Thank you

We've done this. The builder had to put a lintel further up (above where the extraction unit sits) and below that he boxed it in with plasterboard, leaving a rectangular slot for the extractor unit to sit in. I didn't think to ask him to bring the plasterboard lower at the front to conceal the extractor, so it's visible if you're on the shorter side like me. My husband can't see it though (when standing).

My brother did, he also put an oak beam on the front wall at the edge of the opening with maybe 5cm overhang to conceal the extractor & switches.

Thank you.

Nat6999 - I would like a shelf but would prefer it to be higher in which case it wont cover the edge.

Ms Shopper - yes that is what i am concerned about as most i have seen seem to fit it as you have done but not sure about plaster board being lower either as not sure how the edge would be finished.
