How do I easily add backs to the slatted shelves?

It would probably depend on the size of the animals you are aiming to have mating in there.
A stallion would need more space than a dog 🤷

OP is that a walk through cupboard? I can see a window on the other side. If so I would switch the shelves around so they are attached to the wall on the right of the photo.

And you’d maybe get some shelves lower down on the left hand side too.

We recently swapped our slatted shelves for the IKEA Boaxel system ..has made such a difference
