When (if) we complete

Hi all, after many protracted months we are due to complete next week. Just wondering how much we have to ' make right'?

I'm taking a couple of units off the wall and some shelves too but not sure how much I need to fill holes / paint / repair etc for the new owners?

They've just knocked £10k off the price 2 days before exchange so my inclination of what to do (or not) is not my usual approach! (And yes, I accepted because of separation from exH)

I think it is usually expected to fill the holes and touch up if you have the paint. I wouldn't worry too much though as they will probably decorate anyway. Certainly wouldn't worry - they are getting a big discount so should cover cost of filler for a few holes.

I would do nothing if they pulled that shit. I intend to take my tv off the wall and fill in the holes. I don’t have the paint anymore anyway to recover them.

Stripyhoglets · 15/09/2021 17:15

If you've said you're taking them then if do nothing to make good of they have pulled that stunt just before exchange.
If you've not said you're taking them then this could be an issue.
I'd also do no cleaning or leave any information about the house for them as they did the dirty on you just before exchange

I have never gazundered anyone, and have never moved into a house where all fixing holes were made good. Or made good my own holes.

Don't worry about it.

I would clean though, however badly they had behaved. Pride.

I highly doubt any solicitor would encourage a client to pursue compensation for a few holes in the wall from furniture. Given that they’ve just demanded an extra £10k off I would do nothing apart from hoover. Make sure you empty all rubbish inc garages and attics though and a solicitor would probably pursue this.

Thanks all. Generally feeling like I want to leave it dirty and unfinished / filled.

But know I won't! ConfusedAngry

Do I have to leave the wheely bins empty too?!

I was thinking about the wheelie bins the other day. I just don’t see how we can leave them empty. What have other people done.

maofteens · 19/09/2021 19:47

I didn't fill in any holes from hooks from paintings or touch up. I left the house clean, and I did pay for some one to remove all remaining rubbish.

Gazundering in the current market is cheeky AF!

I'd be hiding raw fish behind the bath panel in your position OP

We filled all holes and touched up in the house we moved out of recently but our vendors didn't bother, nor did they clear the piles of garden rubbish. I certainly wouldn't bother after them pulling that trick at the last minute.
