Our house has been on the market for 2 months - launching as the school holidays started which I think was a huge mistake - with what I'd describe as a handful of viewings (mostly right as it went live).

The price it's been listed at was the agent's price, not ours, and when compared with others locally, doesn't seem OTT. All the agents who came round gave similar valuations too. No viewers have said upon viewing it that it is overpriced either.

We had only one bit of negative feedback and it was only from a couple of viewers, not all - that we are overlooked from the side of our property - so we purchased some 10ft trees to allay that concern.

I'm putting myself out there with a link to see what you guys think so be gentle! Should we stay on the market or take it off for now? I should say we only went on the market as we fancied a project for our forever home and were told there was a massive opportunity in our price range as there is such limited supply.

@FurierTransform

Had another look & I think it still comes down to price. For less than £50k more you could be in this 6000sqft Georgian pile, 10 miles away: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/106531097#/?channel=RES_BUY

& the few comparable houses that are closer are upwards of 3000sqft.

That’s much more my style, but it’s miles from anywhere.

The interior decor in this house is streets ahead of and better model than any of the other houses linked on the thread which are all painfully naff.

loopylindi · 13/09/2021 13:17

I know there are national platforms for house sales but promoting it in London and other 'hot spots' might be an idea for those who want to move 'into the country'.
When I started looking I was surprised how stark it was. No sign of anyone living there at all. I know estate agents tell sellers to do this for a 'naice, clean, uncluttered look - but there are ways and means.

@BlackTee40 why so vicious?

@TatianaBis, that’s much more my speed too in terms of architecture but the mismatched look of this interior wouldn’t work in the OP’s house. It needs a bit more of the WAG glam, perhaps a little less glitz than WAG though. It needs MORE hot tub champagne chic, not less. It’s footballer land (or close by), play up to that.

It's horses for courses, though. If people want a new(ish) build, they expect the decor that goes with it. You can't decorate a new house like a Georgian pile - that would look bizarre and incongruent.

The OP needs her decor to reflect what buyers of her sort of property will expect. The links PPs have posted, while they might not be to your taste, are good examples of the current market.

@BlackTee40, unnecessary. Green is a very ugly colour on you.

Furries · 13/09/2021 13:28

@BlackTee40 - wow. Bloody rude and not at all constructive. Why be so bitchy?

callmeadoctor · 13/09/2021 13:28

You have been very brave OP (looking for a clap hands emoji!). I now think everyone on here should post a couple of interior pics of their own house for us to admire (hate) Grin. I would, but my house is a tip.................................

😆

Comments like @BlackTee40's are such a self-own.

This is green? If I had to say your house in one colour I'd say yellow

Perhaps just a bad day. I'd hate to think someone genuinely wanted to be that cruel to a stranger simply asking for advice.

Because it´s true.

I'm not jealous. I've got 3 properties in the UK and 1 abroad, I'm really not jealous of that ^

I'm just giving my opinion, of why people spending upwards of a million might not like it.

BlackTee40 · 13/09/2021 13:33

It looks like one of those new build show homes.

Put some character or life back in to it.

ItWearsTheBatteriesOut · 13/09/2021 13:33

Looks slightly greener in my screen shot but online it's very yellow. Ps when you do the pictures again keep the sky!

Do agree that some pot plants will help as well.

housetales · 13/09/2021 13:34

@BlackTee40 Perhaps you can inspire me with some design-led images from your portfolio?

@BlackTee40 - thankfully, life isn’t all about what/how many properties you have.

The OP has been charming and filled with humour on this thread - I doubt very much that you’d be fortunate enough to be described in the same way.

You’ve given no advice, despite your portfolio. You’ve just been a Grade-A tosser.

My life goal is to have a home nice enough to put on here, if I ever do I'm going to be an unbearable show off, not depreciating like the OP.
WhistPie · 13/09/2021 13:37

OP - I commiserate with you for all the "Birmingham" comments, I used to live in Solihull Wink
