Stainless still sink grid

Reflections2021 · 11/09/2021 15:49

Anyone know where I can buy a stainless steel one, that sits in the sink, without spending £££. Looking for something 400x500 approx with the plug position similar to that in the photo shown.

The only ones I’ve seen are £85 or more by Blanco

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/09/2021 16:03

Ooh, that's a lot of money! It's only a glorified cake rack.

Reflections2021 · 11/09/2021 16:56

@TeaAndStrumpets exactly!have one but did not realise the price of them as it was part of an order for a new kitchen. Now looking for a new one and did not want to spend this much if I can avoid doing so.

I know it's shocking, they think the customer is a sitting duck! I suppose a handy person could get a stainless rack and snip out a square shape for the plughole? But would not look very smart Grin

Reflections2021 · 11/09/2021 18:22

Genuinely can’t see why they cost so much!

What’s it for? What am I missing..:

JellyTots2009 · 11/09/2021 19:19

I'm sure it's so pots, pans, cutlery..etc dnt scratch the sink when thrown in

minipie · 11/09/2021 19:27

Oh right!

Clymene · 11/09/2021 19:44

OMG I don't mind spending money on beautiful things but £85 on a glorified cake rack?! What's your sink made out of?

minipie · 11/09/2021 21:18

Yeah, sink scratches have never really bothered me… Surely the grid gets gunked up with bits of food etc and then it’s just another thing to wash?

Mosaic123 · 11/09/2021 21:29

Have you looked on Amazon? You can buy plastic see thru ones on there too. It will do the same job.

Reflections2021 · 11/09/2021 21:55

@Clymene it’s a stainless steel Belfast sink. The plastic ones melts when you place a hot pan in. Funny enough mine doesn’t get gunned up, we have a hose that you can pull down and almost power washes it off after using, which I do to encourage any food bits into the food catcher.

Would love to get a cheapie one of Amazon but can’t find one suitable.

eBay?

MaggieFS · 11/09/2021 22:05

I still don't understand what this is for?

Clymene · 11/09/2021 22:12

I don't understand why you don't just use a wire cake rack. Confused

PigletJohn · 11/09/2021 22:49

they are often included in the "kit" when you buy a sink, and are
made to fit.

I can't see any listed

A cake rack might not be stainless so would rust, and might buckle under the weight of heavy pans

A Belfast is pretty big

you might possibly find one listed as a "sink basket"

or you could approach a company that makes or sells Belfast sinks.

There is one 40x40 on here

BeaucoupFish · 11/09/2021 22:58

And lots of sink protectors on Amazon
Search term Belfast sink protector

They have the silicone ones they don’t melt

Reflections2021 · 12/09/2021 02:44

Thank you all, some good suggestions that I’ll look into.
