Question about letting a property.

I recently applied for a property with the same estate agent I’ve been with for the past 6 years. After application the estate agent rung to say I’d been successful but there a problem with the property and could I wait 3 months. I agreed and she said she’s pulling the ad from the website. She rung again a week later and stated it was gonna be more like 6 months and I should sign a new tenancy for the place I’m currently renting, to which I declined. I’ve since noticed the same estate agents have pulled 2 more adverts from the website without the “let agreed” that usually follows. My question is, do estate agents just remove ads when they found a tenant rather than the “let agreed”? Does it sound fishy? She won’t answer my emails but can talk the talk down the phone 😏

It could be a safety issue - we viewed a place that was advertised and when the agent saw the spiral staircase with a huge drop and no barrier she said they would have to take it off market as they would be liable for any person falling from it.

It could be the landlord has changed their mind or a lot of properties seem to be up for sale or rent here, maybe they think the sale might fall through and that would be clear in six months.

So yes I can imagine a number of scenarios where the property is taken off market but not let.
