New flooring/massive couch issue

Looking for some advice. I want new flooring in my living room and hall as the wooden flooring we have is starting to lift however we got a new massive corner sofa last year that will be impossible for us to get out the room! It came in 3 sections and was put together in the living room for us so I would have no clue how to take it apart to move it. It's too big for us to get our the room and we have no space to move it. Am I stuck with this floor til I get rid of the couch (probably in 2052 as it was expensive!!!!!) 😂

Why don’t you contact the place you got it from to see if they can help?

Polmuggle · 09/09/2021 20:46

No, you clear the other furniture out the room and then the flooring people do one half, move the sofa, do the other half, out it back.

That's how they did the carpets in our bedrooms

I’ve just had a very similar situation, large L shaped sectional and Tv cabinet also large that had to stay in the room while it was decorated and new flooring laid

I broke the sofa into 3 parts and moved it up down and across depending where I was working, painted then laid the floor and moved furniture back onto that part to start the next

It’s hard work but doable just a bit like doing a puzzle, I planned it out beforehand and it took me 5 days In total

Thanks everyone. @Polmuggle that's what I'm hoping they would be able to do 🤞. @Tomnooktoldmeto my husband is useless with anything to do with DIY and so am I so would be relying on the flooring company but will need to see if they will do it with the couch in the room.

@Melrose86 my husband is also useless but lovely, I’m disabled and old but I did all the decorating and flooring myself as I’m very practical, if all looks fab but put me in bed for a week afterwards

@Tomnooktoldmeto I wish one of us was good at stuff like this but sadly not. I'm also 34 weeks pregnant so not much use at the moment! The floor is lifting quite badly though so want to do something about it ASAP x

@Melrose86 ah I remember those days of nesting, hope you can get it all done and be ready for winter snuggled up with your baby
