Dh and I are seriously looking to move to an apartment in Central North Oxford. Property seems very hard to come by.

Has anyone lived there? Is it overly snobby?

Whereabouts in central north Oxford? I lived in Summertown and near SS. Philip and James' CofE Primary (universally called Phil and Jim's) as a graduate student.

Property in the area is very expensive, but I wouldn't say it's snobby as such. There's an element of that, like anywhere, but most of the people I knew were lovely (if you were willing to embrace the occasional geeky quirk!).

You're probably struggling to find places because really only a relatively small proportion of places in the area are on the private market: loads of property is owned by the university, colleges, or perhaps the private English language schools. I even came across large houses owned by American universities as accommodation for their students.
