Do you only regret building windows too small?

We are trying to work out window sizes for a garden room attached to the main house. Its approx 4x x 8m and west facing, so the afternoon sun will stream through. There will be bifolds and a lantern roof, so wondering if getting windows smaller than 2m wide would be better? I don't want so much glass it feels like a conservatory and roasting hot.

Have you ever wished you'd put in smaller windows?

it can be very nice having small windows that frame a view in interesting ways. sometimes I think a whole wall of glass is a bit dull.

I'd avoid the lantern roof if possible, they seem like a pain to maintain and you can't really put blinds on them so can't avoid causing light pollution/block the light to avoid the heat.

I also agree a wall of glass can look a bit dull - two smaller windows often looks better than one big one.

Also, very large windows can lose heat in winter.

We have a wall of windows facing west, probably a run of 10m,floor to ceiling. We are in an exposed position, and it did get very very hot the first year. This year we've had blinds fitted and it makes a huge difference. ( Couldn't last year as we moved in the day before lockdown).
The only time I wish that we hadn't built a house with so many huge windows,is when they need cleaning. 24 windows is not fun.

How about a window on an adjoining wall (with a window seat?) so you get light from two sides, but skip the lantern roof. You'll save money

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. After discussing with the builder, we have gone for slightly smaller than 2m. Its a more standard size apparently. Now re-thinking the lantern too.
