Previous tenant has clearly had the living room done in some sort of emulsion-repelling forcefield.

Three coats of white later it's STILL patchy.

Where am I going wrong??

It's the same Dulux white Matt that I've used in our old flat with no problems (not literally the same tin)...I'm utterly mystified.

It was a depressing greyish beige in a north facing box of a room so it must be done, but it's putting up such a fight. I don't honestly know at this stage if a fourth coat with even make difference. And I've still got the door and skirting etc to do.

Do I just move house?!

Can you do a coat with white stain block?

We found in our old rental (white walls) that touching up some water stains with this was good enough to avoid having to paint over it (which we were expecting to do)

Thank you @Shurl I will look into that x

Did you clean the walls thoroughly first? Could it be grease/dirt/dust that’s affecting your finish?
