Where to live in Ulverston

We are having to relocate to Cumbria and have decided on Ulverston. Can anyone recommend the nicest areas to live or any areas to avoid. Any advice from anyone with local knowledge would be really appreciated. Thanks

Check flood risk especially south Ulverston. There’s a couple of new housing estates being built Croftlands always popular but “honeypot” estate hasn’t a great reputation. Don’t think there’s anywhere that’s awful.

Thank you, that's really useful. We are going up next weekend for a look around.

Depends what you want and what your budget is. Nowhere is bad to live.
Town area easier for getting involved in festivals etc but parking can be an issue (though depends how much you’ll use a car if you can walk everywhere). Some v nice old houses though. Honey pot officially the ‘rougher’ area but it’s not really rough and only a few streets anyway.
Croftlands is popular but a bit souless and further away from town.
South Ulverston a flood risk and one new estate is built on a flood plain so I’d be wary of that.
All schools are good, different pros and cons of each primary. UVHS is generally good.
Next weekend is lantern procession so try and come for that.

Feel free to PM me if you want anything

Thank you so much for the advice. It's really hard when we can't just keep popping up to look. We were hoping to come today but have viewings on our house. DP's new job is at BAE and we have a three year old so want to be near decent schools. Thanks for letting me know about the lantern festival next weekend too.

Honestly anywhere in Ulverston is fine. Schools all have a good reputation so no issue there. If you want C of E school you need to live near Church Walk School as they only have a small intake and Sir John Barrow is getting oversubscribed so if you really desperately want there then you have to be careful of catchment but they’re all good.

Festivals a bit muddled due to Covid but worth looking here. Lots going on.
