Just had the most WTF moment following my property’s Best & Final offer...

Oh wow,

I’ve just had a buyer who submitted a best and final offer (which was much lower than the one we accepted) come banging on my front door with his wife and kids, demanding to know why I didn’t accept his offer! I know the market has gone haywire, but Christ on a bike, that did shock me!

Regale me with your buying/selling horrors please, it’ll be a while before I recover from this one today, (she says 40 viewings and 29 offers later!)

What did you say to him?

FawnDrench · 01/09/2021 18:53

But what did you SAY to them?

GreenestValley · 01/09/2021 18:54

Errr bit of a humble brag?

If your biggest home ownership horror is someone offering over but not enough over, I’m not sure you’ve got too much to complain about…

I told him that the idea behind best and final was that it cut out the whole “ok, I’ll raise to this etc etc” I had more than enough offers, his was quite low, and that I wish him luck in his future house offers, but my one isn’t available any more as I’ve accepted an offer abs am happy with that offer. He carried on trying to argue with me

@LimitIsUp

I think it was dropping in “40 viewings and 29 offers” that did it for me

Bring out the violin!

I would be having a stern word with your estate agents as it's likely a lack of communication! I say this as a buyer who has viewed and made offers on several properties recently and in almost all of the situations we have been given misleading information, false information and in a few cases no information about our offer. The market is horrible at the moment and greedy estate agents and vendors make it worse.

WTFMIL · 01/09/2021 19:03

@Trillogy101

He said he had been emailed the “rejection” so I don’t think it was miscommunication,

The market is unbelievable right now, especially where we are, houses go on then are under offer and to best and final within days...

We took a cash buyer offer who had nothing to sell on, and we already have a new build lined up, so the best circumstances for us and no chain, not necessarily the highest offer, but the best “fit” for us time frame wise.

I’ve a good friend who’s an estate agent and virtually every time something goes to best and final someone who misses out calls to offer 5/10k more… that’s not the point!!!
