Tell me about Hove

We are getting itchy feet and one of the places I've thought about is Hove. Currently in zone 2 London and really don't know much about it.

Any great things we should know about? We do plan to go down there and have a look around at some point.

Hove is quite big.
Central Hove is the vibrant popular bit. Going west, Poets Corner and west Hove is nice and lots of residential homes. Further west is Portslade which is not so popular. Hangleton is boring suburbia - lots of bungalows.
Will depend a lot on whether you need schools and what ages etc.

Thanks. We have a DS who is 3.

I'd seen a few places (online) in poets corner. Is that far from central hove? It doesn't look too far on a map but hard to judge.

No that's pretty central, close enough to the beach and chock full of young families. Good school nearby is West Hove infants or if you are religious St Andrews but that's hard to get in to!

Lots of nice houses in poets corner but mostly terraced Victorian/Edwardian.

I'm also making the move from London to Hove with my 2.5 year old son. I have a purchase going through near Wish Park in West Hove - I like it around there. I also viewed properties in Poet's Corner - I liked it there too - a little more jam packed together but I like that - lots of friendly people chatting to one another. I viewed some properties around St. Ann's Wells Gardens and Seven Dials, which is a really pretty area and perhaps feels a little more like 'Brighton', but I settled on West Hove in the end for the school and close proximity to Church Street Hove (shops and restaurants) and to my favourite part of Hove Beach (between Hove Lagoon and Rockwater). Hove Lagoon is good for children too. I hope for my son to be able to go to West Hove Infants School and Hove Junior School. Good luck deciding!

@Betty2021 have you ended up moving to the wish park area? We are thinking of moving there too from London
