What is Belmont like in Durham?

Following on from my previous thread, my husband and I have narrowed our search down to buying a property in Belmont, Durham. Properties seem reasonably priced, and good access to the OH's work, and to the centre of Durham. We have viewed lots of properties recently from Low Fell-Chester Le Street-Washington-Belmont, and had a lot of offers rejected, so hope we find somewhere soon!

Does anyone have experience of Belmont, is it a nice area to live? Safe, quiet, good family environment?

Thankyou Smile

If I moved back to Durham it's one of the places I'd look.

For anyone moving to Durham I'd recommend you check the commute to work if your work is central.

Yes, safe, decent schools, easy access to the motorway and the city, good houses. I live another mile along the road.

It's absolutely fine. I used to live there. Not rough or anything. Excellent access to the A1 if that helps you.

Fab, thankyou all! Smile We've only ever lived around the Gateshead/Newcastle area so don't really have any idea of where is good to live in Durham, so it's good to know that Belmont is a nice place!
