Gazundered day before exchange

We were all on track to be exchanging this week with completion on for the end of next week. We were waiting on our buyer's searches etc for some time and they finally came through earlier this week.

Call this morning from the estate agent. Buyer has dropped their offer by £15k due to 'immediate issues flagged in the survey' with no details about what these are, no copy of the report and no estimations on how that figure has been calculated. We've said we'd need to see the report to understand the basis for their drop (and to potentially renegotiate... No promises). But they've been reluctant to do this and says they'd be happy to proceed with exchange tomorrow still should we agree to the £15k Hmm

Fuming does not cover feelings right now Angry!!

I’ve just had to look for this thread as it had dropped off my list of threads that I’m on and I was desperate for an update. Grin

So pleased for you that you’ve exchanged and will be moving tomorrow, hurrah! Hope it all goes well. Gin

@EspressoDoubleShot

That’s a whole other tangential point that is unrelated to suggestions that the op act out too. The op has not paid any additional monies, she’s not out of pocket. Just because the one amoral buyer manipulated the chain for more money doesn’t mean the unaffected op is justified in leaving the house dirty or enacting a gripe. As an adult I’d expect op to think on balance this doesn’t require a tit for tat retribution
She's had a shitty miserable and stressful weekend. Because her buyer was greedy.

Leaving a turd in the loo is the least I'd do. I wouldn't damage anything but I certainly wouldn't bother cleaning the house.

People like this deserve fuck all niceties and kindnesses

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/09/2021 22:20

There was a ‘tit’ by the buyer. Causing a pregnant woman stress? Nice.

And quite frankly deserving of a ‘tat’ even if by some luck she isn’t out of pocket.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/09/2021 22:24

I just think if you think OP was unaffected by this then you are mistaken.

If she was fine and dandy about it all there would have been no thread.

EspressoDoubleShot · 02/09/2021 22:26

So in response to the other buyer poor behaviour, the op should enact her own bad behaviour as a form of revenge. And it’s justifiable because well she was annoyed & inconvenienced. Oh well then…

HeronLanyon · 02/09/2021 22:30

I think op should rise above and not spend energy continuing the unpleasantness. Not go any extra mile for them, do the basic cleaning, no sabotage or letters or telling neighbours etc. Why increase the stress and unpleasantness ?? She’s got enough on her plate. The only thing I would for sure do is not bend over backwards re accommodating measuring up or similar requests by buyers. They’d be 100% at my convenience.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/09/2021 22:31

Oh well then….

That is entirely up to the OP.

But I wouldn’t be rewarding bad behaviour with any acts of kindness or decency.

If you think a dirty cupboard is on par with stressing out a heavily pregnant woman by basically demanding £15k then that can be your take on it.

It isn’t mine.

RosiePosieDozy · 02/09/2021 22:31

Congratulations. I'm happy it's gone through. Onwards and upwards.

CrackerJack2021 · 02/09/2021 23:43

I am so pleased for you OP, had been following the thread and hoping for the best. Good luck in your new home Flowers.

It's been very interesting to note that several people who have posted on this thread are almost in defence of the cruel, amoral CFery which has been visited on the OP.

I suspect that people such as EspressoDoubleShot are more than likely the kinds of people who have committed, or would indulge in, behaviour of this kind. There seem to be a lot of them around.

MyNameIsJane · 03/09/2021 03:00

Best of luck for your move!

GiantHaystacks2021 · 03/09/2021 04:50

I wouldn't be breaking my arse cleaning the house before moving out.

nellly · 03/09/2021 07:35

Good luck with your move today! Glad it's all going ahead for you

daisybrown37 · 03/09/2021 08:26

Good luck with your move today.

daisypond · 03/09/2021 08:33

I’ve only ever bought one house - and that wasn’t cleaned. It hadn’t occurred to me that the sellers should clean their house for the new buyers, but it seems to be expected, reading this thread.

Polmuggle · 03/09/2021 08:40

I absolutely wouldn't be cleaning and I'd be leaving them a letter in their new house explaining what an awful thing to do it was. And wishing them good luck learning the bin days, finding the stop cock, using the boiler etc as you would have left them a guide to living there if they weren't such twats

I love this. Not sure I would have the balls to leave a letter but think I would as at the moment the CF FTBs think they have 'won' by getting £5k from pulling this shit and might try it again in the future.

They need to be told that this behaviour is not on as they obviously have no moral compass

Pipsquiggle · 03/09/2021 09:55

Good luck with your move today OP

It’s the done thing to leave your house clean for the new buyers. Would you want to move into a filthy house? Surely given you did, you wouldn’t want to leave it like that for the next person?

Some people are arseholes though and leave the place dirty. Just what you want when you’re moving all your stuff straight in with likely no real way to clean it before you have to get your furniture in the right rooms.

In the OPs case though, no way should she clean for these money grabbing bastards. Or leave them any champers or nice notes. And take everything. All the curtains, poles, light bulbs etc. Don’t do anything to make their lives easier.

All the luck today OP. Hope it goes really well x

Nojobforoldmums · 03/09/2021 12:25

I would casually mention to your neighbours what happened.

Stripyhoglets · 03/09/2021 12:27

I'd flush the loo but if not be doing any cleaning for them or leaving them any information about the house!
Hope the move goes well. Hope everything breaks down for them as soon as you've moved out!

youlookingatme · 03/09/2021 13:12

Why dont we all act like civilised people and realise that some people will always act like idiots in the buying and selling of houses. Be the bigger person and walk out the door with your head held high, you are a decent human unlike the person who tried to rip you off for £15.000.
