Will it make my bedroom cooler if I remove the carpet?

It’s a two storey house, bedroom upstairs. Not sure if plank floorboard or plywood underneath the carpet. Carpet and underlay on top. Room is warm and stuffy. I was thinking about replacing the carpet with vinyl flooring but only if it will make a difference to the room temperature.

Does anyone know if it will?

I think you'd have better results getting an air conditioning unit instead

no, it won't.

if you live in a house, open the loft hatch so that warm air can rise and escape, and open a window, preferably on a wall that was not heated by late-afternoon sun.

If you are an early riser, open a door or window on the non-sunny side of the house in the morning and you will be amazed at the throughflow of cooling air. Shut it before the sun is able to raise temperature at ground level.

I would install a ceiling fan

Blackout blinds have made a huge difference to the temperature of my room on hot days.

Thanks everyone.

I don't think removing the carpet and replacing it with vinyl would make any difference to the ambient temperature. It would be cooler underfoot is all but that's irrelevant when you are lying in bed.

Open windows at night, lighter bed coverings and a room fan would help. Aircon would be amazing if it's doable in your house.
