Radiators

Thrilling subject, sorry!

We are replacing the old rusty, dust trap radiators in our house with new ones. Looking around at different brands, spec and finishes, I now know more about radiators than I ever wanted to.

It's coming down to a choice between two brands - Kudox and Stelrad.

Stelrad are more expensive, Kudox are cheaper and look pretty much identical BUT there are some negative reviews on the web mostly about the longevity of the paint finish. I'd rather pay a bit more and have a longer lasting finish if that's the choice but it's not really clear what the differences are (if any).

Has anyone bought either of these brands and able to comment on plus and minus points of either?

I've googled both your choices, and just came on to say Acona column radiators are amazing. I had them fitted after my house was rebuilt after a massive flood. You can get them from B&Q. I've not had many people in my house during the Pandemic, but the three friends I've had round have since bought them. Not too expensive, heat my 2 bed bungalow in 20 mins, then stay hot for 2 hrs after switching off, and look amazing. First pic is my hallway radiator. 2nd pic is from the B&Q website of the bigger 3 column one I have in my lounge.

I also recommend the acova column radiators. Not too expensive, look great and heat the house a treat!

@RainbowZebraWarrior loving the pink!

They look pretty but don't they trap dust??

Another vote for Acova. And no, they're no a dust trap.

We also have Acova from screwfix in various colours , they’ve never looked particularly dusty abs they hold the heat so well

As per above, we have them in various sizes (tall column ones and smaller standard ones) and never had any problems via Screwfix or Acova.

I love that style of the pink one @rainbow I think we may go for those at some point!

Love my Acova rads and am slowly replacing as many of our existing ones as I can with them. About to put a big column one in our living room and two smaller horizontal ones in the kitchen (new extension). Not had delivery problems with the ones we've had, think I got them from Wickes in the past.

Thanks to all for suggestions.

We wanted something a bit more modern looking so have gone for the Stelrad Softline Silhouette rads.

We went and looked at the Kudox ones on display and quickly discounted the idea because they looked really cheap and nasty. the quality of finish was very rough and the paint was chipped and scuffed in many places.

We've ended up spending more than double the cost of the cheap rads but I think it will be worth it for a higher quality, longer lasting finish.

If I never have to look at radiator websites again it will be too soon!
