removing glue residue from floor

We have a cheap carpet in our dining room, which we were going to replace with karndean. We've just lifted a bit of it to find a sheet vinyl floor underneath, which if in OK condition we can live with for a while. But the carpet has been glued down so the floor is super sticky in places.
How is it best to remove it easily?
Thanks in advance

Depending on what it is, you can get anything from sticky stuff remover to floor glue remover. Just linking Amazon so you can see the variety of stuff available, b&q, screw fix, local diy store will likely carry some suitable stuff.

We have something similar. DH tried various things (toxic things, usually) and eventually discovered that hot water worked just fine. Start with that.

Try sticky stuff remover - Amazon, B&Q, Halfords, Lakeland - it is my go to for things like this but also try WD40 (doesn't smell so nice)

Once glue has been removed wash with hot water and washing up liquid .
