Damp proofing garage

Boring question - sorry!
We are looking into getting our garage damp proofed. Our house is on a bit of a hill, and the garage is the level below the house, so one side and the back are set into the hill. It is too damp to use but we could do with the space.

Has anyone damp proofed a garage and turned it from useless to useful? The quotes we’ve had are 3,750 and 4,750 (£500 off if agreed in the next month)...can anyone advise if these are reasonable quotes? We are on the London/ Kent border.

Thanks!
