Anyone had original style tiles?

Just bought a load of tiles for our hallway floor and looking through them there are a lot of tiles with very small specks on, eg black tiles with small white specks. Some of them I wouldn’t notice from normal standing height but I just wanted to know is this normal or have we got a dodgy batch? Some are actually chipped so our tiler has said we have to look through them and send those ones back!

Normal? No. If they are supposed to be black they should be black.

Thanks!! Have you actually had them? The white ones are crazy, loads of black specks on them.. gone through some of the boxes, taking bloody forever, you’d have thought they’d do quality control themselves?! And like 50% of them have these specks. I’m worried we get them replaced and just get same problem!

Are these the Victorian style through-coloured tiles for creating geometric patterned floors, like those from www.originalstyle.com/victorian-floor-tiles/patterns/ ?

We have these in our hallway and yes, they have small flecks when you look closely, e.g. white flecks in the black tiles (and indeed black flecks in the white tiles).

I think it's part of the charm of these tiles, personally. I suppose it's because they're made from natural materials. They aren't noticeable unless you look carefully though.

Did you see samples before you purchased, and if so are the tikes you received very different from the samples?

Tikes? Tiles!
