Giving notice to estate agent

This is just basic question but I'm a worrier and though I'd get some reassurance.

I currently rent a house, I want to give notice so I can move in with my partner. I have lived in the house over 2 years and know I need to give 1 months notice. It says to submit the notice on writing.

I want to email the agent today but unsure how to word it. I don't want to be too formal and just state that I'm giving notice. Am I being ridiculous? Is it normal to just give notice out of the blue ?

Other question being, it's a month from the rent payment day, which I have just missed. I can leave at any point as my partner is ready whenever. Would the agent be willing to shorten the notice if they manage to find a new tenant ? Or is that not a thing?

They will be used to it, you don’t need to worry. I’d probably say something like “Please be advised this is my one months written notice to end the tenancy of (address). I will vacate the property on (date). I would be happy to negotiate an earlier departure if required.”
