Bath resurface

Has anyone had a cast iron bath resurfaced? We have a lovely bath, but is avocado and the enamel is degraded. Even the best quality modern plastic baths don't seem so good, and I can't run to a new iron one.

Is the surface durable? Were you happy with the outcome?

We had ours done about 12 years ago and it is easily the best money we have spent! 12 years on there is an odd chip on it but no roughness. No way could we get anything like as long or comfy a bath now new.

Thanks for that @northender. Does your name suggest you come from Norfolk? If so can you recommend a local tradesman?

Sorry, no, not anywhere local to Norfolk. Good luck, hope you find someone to do it.

Just an update - we had it done and I'm delighted. A guest who used the bath in its old avocado incarnation couldn't believe it was the same one. I'm particularly pleased with the new surface texture, which has smoothed over all the old rough areas.

How much did it cost?

I'd be interested in the cost too?

We are (when the stars align and the moon is full) moving to a flat with an iron bath and it needs re-enamelling.

We are trying to be more eco-friendly buy fitting a second hand kitchen and using what's still good.

I had a very pale blue that was £435. In white it would have been slightly less.
