Help please - anyone know about lighting?

In the midst of a small extension, electrician has called today and wants to know where we want light switches / plugs etc.

We'll have a little internal vestibule / hallway that will be the access to the downstairs loo and study. Its a vaulted ceiling and thinking it would be really dark, we have put a velux window in which is basically the size of the vestible (about 1.5m x 1m). As a result, there is essentially no ceiling - so nowhere to put spotlights or to have a pendant light fitting.

We're therefore going to have to have some sort of wall light/s. I'm looking at the John Lewis website and they're saying "40W" or "42W Eco bulb". I have no idea what is a "normal" amount of light, so don't know what I need to look for. I know it will depend on design to an extent, but any advice would be welcome.

I know all of this should have been sorted before we started but........

Can anyone help?

A convential 40 watt lamp would be fine for that size of space. You could have a small wall mounted spot light or a 'wall wash' type.
I think 42w eco may be halogen which are being phased out. I would go for a led type lamp. The wattage of these is much lower but the light emitted the same (or brighter) but can be a harsher light.
