Homebuyers Survey?

I am in the process of buying a house and, for whatever reason, a homebuyers survey has only just occured to me.

Can I ask about your experiences? Cost? At what point in the process did you have the survey conducted? Anything else I am missing with regards to the survey?

Thank you

I went via my mortgage offer as it was cheaper (325 quid instead of 500 quid cheapest quote I got for arranging one myself). So it was fairly early on, usually it's something you get sorted sooner rather than later as depending on the outcome you may wish to reconsider so don't want to get too far down the line.

It was all fairly easy, they dealt via the seller's agent to arrange dates. Report came through couple of days after. Usual story you see when you read forums like this and others - survey reads like a horror novel at first until you actually pick apart the details. Decking may be slippery when wet and a hazard... no shit sherlock. Lots of arse covering.
