Size of pendant over island

How big is too big? Island is 1m x 2m. The pendant I want has two options, 105cm x 25cm or 130cm x 28cm. Room is 6m x 6m. The pendant is a solid piece rather than a series of bulbs if that makes sense, so will very much be a statement whichever size I go for. I'm not great at visualisation so anyone who is, I'd love your thoughts!

Draw it out on square paper to scale, is my advice. Although generally I'm of the opinion that bigger is better when it comes to lighting. Do you have a link to the light? And is it going to be the only pendant light in the room?

That is a good idea, but I still find it hard to translate the picture to a mental image Blush. Yes only pendant, otherwise zoned recessed spots.
Beautiful light

Wow that's going to be a real statement! Instinctively I think the larger one, as it will mirror the size of the island more and look like you are embracing the statement rather than apologising for it, IYSWIM. But do draw it out in plan, if for no other reason than to make sure it gets fitted central to the island itself.

My island will be the same size as yours - it’s also the same size as our dining table, which it will be replacing. I’ve gone for three smallish pendants over the island, and a large pendant/chandelier over the dining table, measuring 94cms in width. The smaller the distance between the light and the island, the bigger the light will look. You’ll have 35cms either side from the ends of the island to balance it out if you go for the larger version, which should be fine.

Thanks Zinnia, the builder is marking the kitchen out on the floor so I'll check the dimensions then, and that it's central!

I looked at a very similar pendant, Hadjab, it's lovely. That makes sense about height influencing how big it seems. It can be lifted/lowered on cords which is good.

That's big. So it's wider than your island. Something like this.

Though not as deep
