In our old house now we have removed a boxed in under stair area we can see one stone step is held up by big stone wedges. It looks like it fell out. It looks like the big stone tread slabs aren’t embedded in the walls but rest on top with space either side that’s filled in. Does this sound right? Who could I get to check who would know?
