Bifolds Cost

Has anyone recently had bifolds put in?

I am being quoted £9k (London) for supply and fit of 4m aluminium bifolds. Is this extortionate?

No. I think we paid over £4K for ours about 20years ago. But get another quote - always a good idea.

It sounds high but not extortionate. We went mid-range, also 4m and think they were about £6k 4 or 5 years ago.

Weve just had installed L shape bifolds, upvc 6 metres, and it was £7k

Africa2go · 07/08/2021 14:30

I think it makes a difference whether it's upvc or aluminium, the latter being more expensive.

That sounds a lot to me. We had 3m of aluminium bifolds fitted last year for around 5k.

Look at Bifold Door Factory: www.bifolddoorfactory.co.uk/

Our price was for the Schuco doors, which are the priciest. If we'd gone for the Cortizo ones it would had been less, but we felt the mechanism on the Schuco was lighter and worth the extra. There wasn't a lot in it though.

Thanks, this is useful. Seems that 9k is unreasonable and I should look elsewhere. Seems some places are chancing it with high prices.

We also got our 4m Schuco bifolds from the Bifold Door Factory - they cost under £5,000 and we’re fitted by the company. We are very happy with them.

Out of interest who was your quote from - we had Sunflex bifolds in our previous house and they were excellent but more expensive than Schuco.

Have a look at www.duration.co.uk/

For example, I just got a price on 4m * 2.1m Alu. Bifolds. 4 panels with a traffic door for £2628 - you will need to add a cill for £100.

I got some from these guys and they are top quality, really good.

I measured the opening myself, following their instructions and found a fitter who charged me £150 to fit them - but after seeing what he did I would have saved the money and done it myself.

There is SERIOUS rip-off money being made on the supply and fit of these Windows. For 9k I'd want the bloody things made of sold gold ;)

Thanks

It really does seem that some people are chancing it. Absolutely disgusting, I am now angry they had the cheek to quote me 9k!

Just be careful OP, most companies will include a survey as part of their quote and then the fitting. If anything isn't right, you then have recourse again the company. Just personally I'd be really wary of a company that didn't survey then install, even if it saves you money initially.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 08/08/2021 21:55

Africa is right. But Bifold Door Factory will (and prefer to) survey and measure, included in the price. I don’t think Duration do (we got some quotes from them), or at least not without extra cost.

As it happens, we chose not to have Bifold Door Factory survey, our builder did all the measurements. But Bifold Door Factory insisted on him signing a waiver that he accepted responsibility for them.
