Moving out of Manchester

Hi, please can anyone advise on moving away from Manchester

I want to move closer to parents on the Fylde coast and was thinking about Preston (possibly Penwortham)

I'm hoping to make enough on selling my current house (4 bedrooms) to only need a small mortgage on a 2/3 bedroom house away from Manchester prices!

I have one primary school aged son so need to be near good schools and near to a decent sized town for work.
TIA Smile

Garstang is lovely, good schools, nice shops. 10 miles to Preston/Lancaster/Blackpool. Can't really comment on Penwortham, used to be not particularly desirable but I am quite out of date. Fulwood is nice and also close to Preston. Might be worth looking at Lytham, Kirkham if your parents are that way? Good luck, it is a lovely area. Lancaster is a great little city if that's not too far?

I've just done this exact move a week ago and couldn't be happier! Bigger house, tiny mortgage and the schools are great!

You might find some good suggestions around Preston in this fairly recent thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/property/4296257-preston-where-to-live

There's an outstanding primary school in Longton.
Nice village life.
It's easy to commute from there to Preston or to Lytham ( I grew up further out than that and used to go to school in Lytham).
