Raised Patio

Building a small raised patio area about 3m out from the house, it will have a slight inclined ramp down it.

We can't decide whether to build a dwarf wall around it to separate it from the lawn?

Ideas and or pictures for inspiration welcome.

Thanks :)

Is it "raised" by more than 30cm? If so you'll need planning permission.

Thanks, yes it's all gone through planning permission with our extension.

how high is the patio above the lawn? is there a risk of children / people who aren't looking falling off the edge of the patio? will you have planting along the edge of the lawn where it joins the patio?

The patio will be about two bricks high from where the lawn is. We could potentially position plant pots near to the edge to make it less of a trip hazard? I'm just not sure I'm overly keen on the look of a dwarf wall.

Could you get cuboid-shaped planters built-in like a fence/wall? There was something like that on ‘Your Garden Made Perfect’, not sure which episode. So instead of a wall with plants on top, you would just see the planter.

Oh yes that looks lovely actually! I'll have to get researching, thanks for the idea.
