Is it safe to buy a house near a gas/chemical plant?

Hi everyone I'm hoping for some advice.

I want to move to a beautiful town and recently had my offer accepted on a house there. What I didn't know is the house is 1.5 miles away from a large hazardous chemical manufacturer. What's got me concerned is every week the town test out WW2 sirens in case there is an imminent toxic gas leak or explosion at the plant. This is making me nervous after recent accidents like in Beirut.
Also for context the plant has had two major incidents in the past 20 years which released 500 tons of toxic/deadly gas and triggered off the city sirens and evacuations.

What I'm asking is 1.5 miles a safe distance or should I drop this property?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can use the lookup tool on the HSE site if it is registered as a high risk site
