Absolutely going to burst with the stress of this

Just that really. Exchanged on our place late last week and moving into rented; have to complete on the 18th before buyer's mortgage deal expires so we had 3 weeks to find a rental and arrange everything. Managed by some miracle to find one which is available on the 19th, landlord accepted us, paid the holding deposit, going through the checks now (not anticipating any issues now but you never know I suppose). However apparently we don't get to sign the lease or pay the proper deposit until just before we move in which I'm told is not unusual but it's made me really nervous - we have GOT to leave our flat on the 18th and the only place we have to go is this rental. Trying to find out if we can at least move the tenancy a couple of days early so we can get the keys before but the bloody lettings agent is on holiday and apparently no one else can help. They're all very zen about it saying it will be fine (and have decent enough reviews so I know they're reputable) but I am a planner and I find the lack of certainty utterly intolerable. The checks are taking forever because of lettings agent's said holiday.

Flat is a shit tip and as we're moving from a 2 bed flat to a 4 bed house we will be missing loads of furniture and will have to live in chaos for ages until we can sort it.

I'm feeling pretty apoplectic with stress right now and just wanted to rant!

Poor you, I can completely understand it. (I'm a control freak myself).
Fingers crossed it will be fine, and then you can move in and start planning for the new house. Good luck.

Thank you! I think I need some diazepam!

I lived for 8 weeks in four holiday lets and three hotels waiting on my purchase. When I sold and moved out of mine I was buying another chain free house and expected to be in there in a couple weeks, then the seller withdrew. Friend took my dogs, my son moved in with his girlfriend, all our stuff went to storage and then the expensive temporary housing journey began for me and my other child.
But we’re in our new house now! You deal with it best you can. I’m sure it will work out in the end.

Oh god I think I would have gone crazy!! We are signing a year's lease so hopefully we'll be settled for a little while.

That sounds so stressful!

Can you book a Travelodge or similar for that night, so at least you have somewhere to sleep that night?

We've booked a Premier Inn but I don't know wtf would happen to our stuff as we are moving from London to Exeter so the movers would have nowhere to store it overnight in Exeter iyswim.
