How long to hear back after placing an offer on a house UK?

Placed an offer on a house at 10am this morning. Just wondering when I should expect a response?

It's only been on the market for 5 days and they've already turned down an offer (which was less than ours).

I have usually heard within 24 hours, but some may take long. Good luck

We have placed 4 offers in the last 12 months, the longest we waited to hear was 2 days but generally same day. Good luck!

Usually it’s the same day or next day. I would phone EA tomorrow afternoon to check how things are. They might be still doing viewings or they might be consulting all sellers (if several).

72 hours for my brothers recent purchase.

Depends how long it takes the EA to get hold of them and if they need to discuss with each other etc. We generally heard back within one or two working days.

Update: It took them 25 hours to respond and said someone else had offered a bit more than us, we counter offered higher and an hour later just got the call to say our offer has been accepted! 😁
