Living in Baldock

Hello! We are house hunting in Baldock, moving from South East where we have been renting. I enjoy the 'feel' of Baldock but I don't know anyone living there. I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to share their thoughts on what it's like? Currently, with the world as it is, I'm feeling really isolated from close friends and family who are all on the other side of the world. Community and connectedness are even more important, but so are having things to do.

I'd love to hear from anyone with experience in Baldock please - anything you felt happy to share about the area, facilities etc (a few threads on here but they are all quite old now and I wonder if it's changed). Also keen to know about the trains into London - I think they are rather fast but not that frequent, is that right?

We don't have children, but we hope that won't be the case for long, and that's another factor in finding the right place. Sorry if that makes me a bit of an 'illegal' poster on here, but really it's a font of knowledge, so I hope it's ok...!

I'd be so grateful for any thoughts, please.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t live in Baldock but have links there. Its got some good community events going on, nice cafes etc
Schools - good secondary and think primary schools are good as well.

My children went to school in letchworth but we lived a bit further north up the A1. They had friends who lived in Baldock so we went there quite often, I always liked it, nice High Street some ok cafes etc, it almost joins up with Letchworth.
As far as I know schools are good.
Don’t know about train but less frequent than Letchworth trains.
