Exterior Painting

We have just been quoted £3000 to paint the outside of our house which is a bit more than expected and just wondered if anyone had theirs done recently. We are only getting two sides (double storey) and a one storey extension done although one side has an apex which is quite high. The price includes all materials and prep and paint of 4 drainpipes and gutters. The painter has also said it will require two coats. We have no idea if it’s a fair price as we have struggled to get anyone out to quote. As it is we will have to wait until June next year to get it done.

Is it the render that is being painted, the windows or both?
If it includes the windows how many are there?
If it is the render calculate the approximate surface area in square metres.
There are a number of calculators on the internet which will help you calculate an approximate price. I'll see if I can find one.

Calculators, try checkatrade (I don't particularly rate them for finding contractors)
Another one smartspender.uk
I'm also a little sceptical about some of these sites too, but it may give you a guide...

Windows not included. I will try the calculator thing. Thanks for that.

Do they need scaffolding, at extra cost?
