Shinfield schools

Hi

We've liked a house in Shinfield I would like to offer on. I don't really know the place so reaching out on here for help.

1. I hear Alder Grove primary will open up to all year groups in September? Anyone close to the school who knows if this is right or not?

1. Shinfield St Mary's primary - any opinions?

1. Do any of you have children who go to Holt School from Shinfield?

Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated, thank you!

We're not in Shinfield but not too far away. Have heard good things about Shinfield St Mary's but don't know much about the school myself.
Do you have a daughter at Holt already or would you be moving them there?

My daughter is two years from secondary so this is me trying to plan for the future 🙈

The nearest secondary is Oakbank. New head and has recently joined a good MAT; the new director of learning at the trust is excellent. Shinfield is Wokingham council, so lots of children do go to schools in the town; just be aware the bus is very early (I think to get to go Holt the bus leaves Shinfield about 7.15). There is lots of new build across the whole of the area so whilst I know of children getting into Holt, St Crispins and Emmbrook from Shinfield, it might be different in two years time.

@Itsrainingatlast thank you! This is very helpful. My daughter has two more years of primary left. I've written to shinfield st Mary's and Hillside primary and the council to see if they may have a space for an in year application later in the year.
