rain and roof in progress

We are having the roof of our new extension done this week.

Yesterday they fitted the velux window (2 electric ones). Just after that we had a series of torrential downpours. Obviously the builders couldn't continue to work in the circumstances, but they the roof was left unfinished and the window area unsealed. We watched the water cascading through the new electric velux last night and I am really concerned.

I am no expect beyond water and electrics don't mix. What can I do apart from hoping for the best?

They also left the top of the cavity wall uncovered and I am worried about the damp which has now got in... they are supposed to be plastering next week. Do we need to wait for everything to dry?

I do have anxiety which is making the worries worse. DH and the builders seem very blase about it but I am thinking the builders don't care too much and DH has his head in the sand...

If I could have some facts from a neutral source it would really help. Thanks.

A decent firm builds a temporary roof over the house to do a loft conversion to keep it dry.

Good job she’s having a new extension then and not a loft conversion.

Oh yes. The Velux's led my mind down a false path!
