It's not the best OP, it's not somewhere I would choose to live.

Train station to get into London and that's about it. Shops in South Norwood High Street or Thornton Heath, neither would I recommend.

Nearest big shopping center would be Croydon and its really not somewhere you would choose to go shopping. Lots of closed shops, shops selling cheap tat and a not very nice feel to it.

If you need to be over that way could you go Crystal Palace/Beckenham better to go Bromley than Croydon.

Also depending where in Selhurst, match days for CPFC are a nightmare. I've lived either side of selhurst park, one place had a driveway which was a nightmare for CFs parking on it 😡 and this was many years before parking on other peoples drives was a thing.
Nothing redeeming about selhurst so I echo PP, plenty of better places a short drive or bus away. South Norwood near the country park or lake and the roads off Elmers End Road are close enough and decent.

I wouldn't live in Selhurst. I agree with the alternatives already mentioned, although Crystal Palace and Beckenham are more expensive. You could also consider Penge.

Thank you all for your messages, I'm moving via a mutual exchange through homeswapper and I'm struggling to find a property in other areas , the 1 in selhurst is grace road . Just off princess road,

It’s fine, but you have to go into south Norwood for any shops. Selhurst is literally just the train station. It’s a short walk or bus into south Norwood and there’s a few nice coffee shops and pubs there and a big Aldi. It’s not the best, but not the worst. Where are your family based?

My family live in morden and there's nothing coming up on home exchange for other areas , thank you for your info

It might be worth joining local area FB groups, so I would search for carshalton/sutton/Morden and maybe Wallington/roundshaw area as they're all far closer and nicer than selhurst (well maybe apart from roundshaw)
Is it HA swaps?
It might be worth extending out to tadworth/Epsom as again easier to reach Morden than schlepping over from the middle of Croydon.

I'm on 12 different homeswap sites on Facebook, I've also joined morden/Sutton/Carshalton 1 and I'm having no luck , I think I'm gonna have to give my house up and go private. Thank you for your advice kind regards sue 😊
