Looking to move to Surrey for DH work and we are both absolutely clueless on the area. Is addlestone nice?
We have a 3 & 1 yo, I’d love a villagey feel but our max budget is 550 which doesn’t go far at all where we’re looking :(

I wouldn't describe Addlestone itself as villagey, surrounding areas like Row Town and Ottershaw (which come within the Addlestone area are more villagey but further from the train station) . It's a nice enough area but not the most affluent in Surrey. New Haw (technically Addlestone) or West Byfleet would be better if you want to be in the Addlestone area but your budget would be tight for West Byfleet.

How many bedrooms do you need? Will you be commuting by train? It really depends what you want but Addlestone wouldn't be my first choice especially if you want somewhere villagey.

Thanks for the advice! We need a 3 bed and no London commute (driving to Shepperton & slough) so train line isn’t a necessity at all

We’re not tied to Addlestone at all we just found a house we liked there!

Have you looked at shepperton/ sunbury?

SollaSollew · 28/07/2021 12:54

Addlestone is the most deprived town in Surrey I believe.

If you can afford to buy somewhere else I would. As @sunshineandshowers40 said above Sunbury or Shepperton are much nicer.

My son and dil recently moved to Addlestone, I've been over few times and like the area, Victory Park lovely for kids, also Little Street in West Byfleet was loved by 2 yr old. Very easy access to M25 (about 5 mins in car) so Slough and Sunbury would be accessible.

Lived in Shepperton for a few years - lovely place, very villagey, good community

Thank you everyone :)
