What's it like living in Tooting?

Looking to move from our current area of London due to anti social behaviour and lack of green space. We have 1DC and would like another plus need to wfh. We can't afford a 4-bed or even 3-bed house without a tonne of work but it looks like we could afford a 4-bed maisonette in Graveny catchment.

Does anyone live in Tooting and can you tell me what it's like for families please? We've never lived in South London so only ever passing through. The bec / common look great?

It's been 10 years since I've lived in tooting, and I was childless then too but.... I still miss it!
I had a flat in Furzedown, they're quiet roads mostly.
It's a place I visit regularly in a work capacity now. It's a very mixed bag of people, great food, great open spaces so I'd say go for it.

I can recommend it. Surprisingly quiet while close to busy shopping areas. Good transport into city (overground and underground). Schools are good.

I know a few families who have moved to Tooting and like it. I lived there years ago and never felt threatened. I mean, I wouldn't walk across the common by myself at night, but it's a perfectly decent neighbourhood for South London.

I live in Streatham not far away. You'll still encounter anti-social behaviour (like anywhere in London I would have thought), perhaps join the local mums group for a flavour... But largely avoidable. Streatham is nice for green space - where I live I can walk to Tooting Bec Common or Streatham Common, and the trains are quite good (connections to Victoria, London Bridge and up through Blackfriars to St Pancras). Norbury down the road is slightly cheaper, might be worth a look. I imagine the roads around Tooting Bec are quite pricy. The ones on the Streatham side are generally quite nice too, with expensive looking houses.
