St Clears - any insider knowledge?

Any Mumsnetters know what St.Clears is like to live in / near? I’m on the hunt for a new home but am not sure where I want to be. I’ve seen a couple of nice properties come up for the area on Rightmove but it’s so long since I was in that neck of the woods, I don’t know if they are really any good.

Any intelligence welcome!

It depends what you are looking for and your connections or not with the area. St Clears is a very small place, so if you were moving from e.g. Carmarthen or have family nearby different from moving from London!

Am used to living ina rural environment. Not moving from London or any other metropolis. Looking for a new home where I can start afresh post divorce, with countryside and dog walks and a friendly community,. Am a country mouse, not a town mouse!

We considered St Clears when we were looking to move from England to Wales back in 2016/17. There was one particular very dilapidated house we were interested in - looking for a project 🙄 - but having gone for a look around the area, we weren't impressed with St Clears itself.

We ended up buying near Llandeilo instead. We're in the countryside for dog walks etc, but with the boutique shopping/coffee shops of Llandeilo a short drive away 😃

I'd highly recommend Llandeilo itself if you don't want to be completely in the sticks as we are!
