Cost of full packing removals in London (with company keeping stuff overnight)

Hello,

I'm trying to budget for our move which will be from a large 2 bed flat to a 3 bed house about 2 miles away (nort east London, zone 3).

We would like the company to come and pack most of our stuff and keep it overnight, then come and collect the reminding things on completion day and move.

Being a control freak, I'll probably pack half of the stuff myself, but I'd like the company to disassemble bigger things, mainly.

How much do you think I should budget for?

Thanks

You can do a quick online assessment with companies like Rogers Removals, but they'll need to do a visit to give you the final figure. Also, disassembly and reassembly is normally on top.

I'd like £2-3k minimum based on my own recent research...

We just paid £2300 for a full packing and removal service (included disassembly / reassembly) for a 5-bed house over two days, although no storage overnight. Quotes ranged from £2300 to £7500

I wouldn't pack anything yourself, aside from things you need to have to hand eg kettle/tea/mugs etc, as the removal company's insurance won't cover things they've not packed themselves.

@PurpleandOrange out of interest who did you use, and did they do a good job?

PurpleandOrange · 24/07/2021 19:59

@iamdashi a company called VP Smart Removals in West London - did an excellent job!

Livingintheclouds · 24/07/2021 20:31

Mine packed the day before except stuff I needed overnights then arrived first thing to load up the trucks. No need for them to store it. Let them do the packing - their insurance might not cover stuff they didn’t pack?
No idea for you, but I’m moving 70 miles and am being charged £2000 including packing to move four bed house.

Mosaic123 · 25/07/2021 09:21

We did similar in East London two years ago.
We used David Alexander who were fantastic.

Mosaic123 · 25/07/2021 09:23

They are based in Romford. We got another quote from Pickford's who were dearer.

LivingLaVidaCovid · 25/07/2021 09:25

We paid about £2-2.5k 2 years ago for a 2/3 bed flat and had full packing service.
Worth every single penny!!!!

I used VP Smart Removas too cost £2800
Two days job completed four bedrooms house,
Amazing work I will recommend to anyone.

CheltenhamLady · 29/11/2021 18:18

We have had quotes to move 1 mile. No bedroom furniture as all fitted. Range from 2.5k to £5,100.

Crazy,

Aren't you the OP?

I’m moving on Friday and am paying just over £2k for packing and moving half a mile up the road in Hornchurch. No overnight storage though!
They gave us some boxes to do a bit ourselves if we wanted so I’ve made up about ten boxes and will leave the rest to them as didn’t know that the insurance might not cover what we’ve packed ourselves!

Clickncollect · 29/11/2021 21:31

That’s moving from a 3 bedroom house, by the way.

Sandrine1982 · 29/11/2021 21:58
